The May Murray Memorial Camphouse & Tayview Cottage

The May Murray Memorial Camphouse

The camphouse building was erected in 1955 as a memorial to May Murray, wife of Dr Murray. Their friendship with members of The Girls' Guidry had developed over a number of years and when Mrs Murray died, her husband felt that a fitting tribute to her would be a Camphouse where girls could have enjoyable holidays in the countryside.

Due to health and safety issues with the existing building, the May Murray Memorial Camphouse is now closed and although plans are now firmly in place for a new centre at Guay there is no camphouse style accommodation available at present.

However it is possible for authorised groups involved in the Expedition section of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, to use the field around the Camp House to pitch their tents. Access to water & toilets are included in the nominal charge. Those wishing accommodation for Leaders supervising expeditions at Guay should book Tayview Cottage.

Tayview Cottage - OPEN FOR BOOKINGS AS NORMAL

When Dr Murray died, he left his house to The Girls' Guildry to be used as a retreat for those who love, as he did, the Perthshire scenery.

Tayview is available to Girls' Brigade members and friends. The cottage has two sections - one part sleeps four and the other seven. All the furnishings and amenities are of a high standard of comfort - central heating, television, etc, and it is open twelve months of the year.
