| This page is designed to collate relevant links to other webpages that have useful resources / information for the EDUCATIONAL section of GB Badgework. (Disclaimer:These web links have been monitored before being incorporated into the Girls' Brigade Scotland website, however websites are always changing and Girls' Brigade Scotland cannot be held responsible for the content of any other web page. If however you find anything on the sites listed that contravenes the aims or principles of GB, please advise us and we will remove the link.) |
www.funandgames.org - A church based website packed full of all sorts of games, quizzes, mindbenders, drama ideas and activities...just the kind of thing a GB Leader needs. |
www.bigeyedowl.co.uk - A UK website set up by a play-group, full of practical ideas, for other groups working with young children: activities, crafts, recipes, and project ideas thet would suit the Explorer age group. |
ultimatecampresource.com - A great U.S. website chock-full of activities, songs, games, and sketches aimed at being used for camp, but there are so many good ideas it'd be a shame to just keep them for camp and not use them on a Company night too. |
Various useful website links available on the "Service Section" page. |
www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk - Just click on the Education link on their home page to access lots of free downloads for teaching map and compass work. Some of the material is aimed at younger Primary school children, but there's lots of useful information, visual aids and summary sheets of skills, useful for the expedition section for the D. of E., or hillwalking or orienteering as part of badgework. |
| PRAYERS |
http://puzzlemaker.school.discovery.com - A great resource for all sorts of puzzles which you can custom make to suit whatever topic you're teaching. |
www.crosswordpuzzlegames.com/create.html - A website just dedicated to crosswords. This link will take you to the page to create your own. There are also hundreds of ready made ones, but this being a U.S. site the clues and spellings are "Americanised" and it may be better to do your own from scratch. |
www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/ - An American site with lots of free kids craft ideas, indexed by topic and materials used. (They'll encourage you to subscribe, however this is not neccessary as the craft links can be accessed and printed without subscription, just make sure you highlight the information you want printed and ask your printer to print "selection" - it saves a lot of paper!) For details on what you can and can't use their text and images for, just type the word permission into their on-site search engine on the above page, (it's down the bottom) or access www.enchantedlearning.com/permissions/permissions.shtml |
| www.recipes4us.co.uk/ - A good all round recipe site with catagory listings: starters, main courses, desserts, baking, bbq and picnic recipes, it also has foreign recipes listed by country, very handy if you are doing a country focus. Alternative Recipes... we know a lot of girls out there have wheat, gluten, nut, egg or dairy intolerances, so don't let them miss out on the cooking or treats. These are good enough for EVERYONE to eat! ALWAYS CHECK the ingredient labels of manufactured ingredients, that they are fully suitable for use when avoiding certain food groups: e.g. Although the list of ingredients may appear nut free, some of them may have been produced in a factory where they process nuts for other products and would not be suitable for anyone with nut intolerances. Recipes also available on the Brigader Leader page Some links to information sources & alternative recipes:
