Interested in becoming a GBS leader?

Being a leader in Girls’ Brigade can be life changing for you and the girls you will work with as part of your GB journey. You will meet people from all walks of life who volunteer for GB because they want to support, nurture and encourage girls and young women to be the best they can be.  To help you do that we offer excellent training for all leaders where you will meet new friends as well as learning more about what we do and how GB works while developing your own individual leadership skills.   You will be supported by fellow leaders in the Company and there are lots of opportunities to add to your skills as part of your GB journey.

Opportunities to serve

There are opportunities to become a Trainee Leader from the age of 18 for adults or for those young women who are 16+ and already members in the Brigader section.  You may be a parent who only has time to volunteer for a few weeks per year and we can accommodate that as well.

If you wish to work with a GB Company for more than six weeks per GB Session, you will be asked to take on a full leader role.

Your first step is to take part in the induction process which involves a course consisting of training modules (provided via our Moodle Training System), a multiple choice quiz and a series of zoom training sessions. These four Zoom training sessions run throughout the year and cover various topics including Child Protection Training.

You will also be asked to undergo a PVG discourse check as part of the induction process.

If you are interested in volunteering to become a leader with Girls’ Brigade Scotland you can approach your local GB company or email Michelle Grant, Membership Services Coordinator, by email at michelle.grant@girls-brigade-scotland.org.uk

"Having a positive input, helping making a difference to young people, being part of a fab family and giving something back."
